Faces of The Nest
Owner | Founder
Hi there! My name is Jenica and I am the owner and founder of The Nest & Company. Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me. I am currently a junior midwifery student working towards obtaining my Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) certification and licensure at the National College of Midwifery. I am a licensed vocational nurse, childbirth educator, and lactation counselor. I wear many hats at The Nest. You may see me doing everything from teaching, speaking, to cleaning.
I come from a very blended family and have 7 sisters and 2 brothers. I grew up in Reno, NV and I moved to Bakersfield, CA during my junior year of high school. I graduated from Liberty High in 2007.
I married the best man I know in 2014, I have the amazing privilege of being a bonus mom to my two teenage children, and I get to cuddle with my two fur babies daily. So you can say life is pretty good. :)
I feel extremely fortunate that I get to serve my community in this capacity. I absolutely love what I do.

I am the Facilitator/Director of Baby Cafe Bakersfield and I provide clinical care to families in that setting. I also teach professional lactation education courses to aspiring and current lactation care providers.
I developed The First 100 Hours concept, a lactation assessment strategy designed to help lactation care providers organize their assessments and consultations in the simplest way.
I currently serve as the President of the United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA). I hold a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. I have been married for 25 years and I have 3 incredible daughters.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I have been formally working in the mental health field for the past 10 years. In my 20’s I spent 3 years overseas attending the University of Durham, England. I studied and got my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology./Social Policy. I found Britain’s social welfare system fascinating and it was there that I began to understand the struggles of generational poverty. Being an American in British culture, helped me realize that even though we speak the same language, there is a lot “lost in translation.” I learned a lot about myself and the opportunity to travel around Europe was such a fantastic experience.
After raising my children, I became involved with a non-profit who helped promote the high school graduation rate of Aging-Out Foster Youth. I worked with their social workers, learning about all the barriers they faced to find support with college applications, tutoring and basic needs. I decided to apply to graduate school and chose a Master in Social Work (MSW) at California State University Bakersfield. I put my whole heart into learning everything I could. I took extra classes, wrote a thesis on the very subject that got me interested in this field: High School Graduation of Foster Youth. I also was a part of a select group that researched and wrote a grant for special funding for public mental health (Proposition 63 ). It is still very exciting to see those programs we developed in place today.
I was drawn to social work degree because of the breadth of knowledge that it gave me. I have been trained to understand systems and how cultures, generations and ideologies influence how we see the world. I have worked in a broad base of fields. I started off working for Child Protection, investigating and conducting Forensic Interviews for children who had been sexually abused. I helped develop a 12 week Substance Abuse Treatment program called “Celebrating Families” where we treated the whole family at the same time.
My name is Vivian & I am a wife and mama to a one year old baby boy. I was born in California but lived in and graduated from high school in Las Vegas, Nevada. My family and I moved back to town to be closer to family and have been here ever since! I love writing and creating content for social media/Pinterest, which is why I started blogging years ago! I am currently finishing up my degree in Communications/Early Childhood Education & I absolutely love learning and perusing my degree. I love the work that The Nest & Co is doing for parents in our community and I’m so excited to be apart of it!
Certified Massage Therapist
"I believe that massage helps stimulate the body's innate healing abilities. As a massage therapist, I hope to be a catalyst allowing you the opportunity to relax and allow your body to revitalize and heal."
Greetings! My name is Jeanne Troncao-Heath. I am a California State Certified Massage Therapist (#35685), Certified Infant Massage Instructor® and Reiki 2nd Degree Practitioner. I have a passion for helping people reach their full potential via nurturing touch and massage. In addition to providing massage, I enjoy introducing people to the benefits of massage and healthful touch by teaching community massage classes. When not involved in this profession I love, I am spending time with my children, husband and pets, reading, cooking and watching historical drama.
My education and experience with massage and counseling give me a unique understanding of the mind-body connection. I am fascinated by how physical and emotional health can be enhanced through massage, energy work, relaxation and the environment. During massage, I listen to your concerns and create an experience that allows you to relax and renew from the moment you enter my office. Because stress has such a profound effect on both body and mind, stress and anxiety reduction are primary focus of my work. I hope to be a part of your wellness plan.
After, receiving my first massage certification in 1996, I worked at Massage Training Institute (MTI) in Bakersfield as an office administrator and instructor beginning 1997. I worked at MTI until 2004 when I opened my own massage school, Bakersfield Bodywork & Massage Supplies (BBMS). I enjoyed training and supporting massage therapists until 2011 when I closed BBMS to focus on my massage practice and start a family.
As a massage therapist, I noticed a direct connection between the body and mind and wanted to learn more. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in English in 2004, I began studying Counseling Psychology. In 2009, I was awarded a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from CSU Bakersfield. I worked as a Marriage & Family Therapy Intern in private practice and as clinic manager of the University Counselor Training Clinic at CSU Bakersfield until becoming a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in 2013. I earned certificates in Maternal Mental Health and as a Trauma Professional to further understand and support women and families.
My massage & bodywork education includes: Swedish massage, Prenatal & Postpartum massage, Reiki, Touch Therapy, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Seated Massage, Infant massage education, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Headache and sinus relief, Trauma-Release Therapy and Position-Release techniques
