Karen Roberts

DONA Certified Birth Doula

My name is Karen Roberts. I fell in love with the birth experience three decades ago when I was a labor support for my sister. Seeing the miracle of my niece being born changed my life! Since that time, supporting and guiding families through the intimate and transformative journey of childbirth has been my passion. I provide education, emotional and/or physical support in a non-judgmental manner to women and their families during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a Doula, my central message is that there is no "perfect" way to birth or parent; rather, there is a spectrum of options available. The ultimate goal is for parents to have a positive experience, knowing that they are validated, supported and loved throughout the process.

Ellie Kolb

DONA Certified Birth Doula

Hi, I’m Ellie Kolb. A wife, mama, birth doula and birth photographer living here in Bakersfield, CA. I have always been fascinated with the miracle of birth, and from a young age I knew I wanted to work in a health profession. I spent time in school volunteering at a hospital and interning at a pregnancy shelter. That was when I was first introduced to the important role of a doula. In 2016, I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. I then went on to be trained and certified as a birth doula with DONA International. I am passionate about using my gifts to serve women and their families throughout pregnancy, birth and immediately postpartum.

Birth is, no doubt, one of the most important times in a woman’s life. I believe a woman’s body is designed to grow and birth her baby. I believe a woman should be able to birth the way she desires. Home birth, hospital birth, medicated or unmedicated, every woman deserves to be supported in her preferences for the birth of her baby. She deserves to know her options regarding birth and have access to evidence-based research so she can make informed decisions. It is my job as a doula to provide this kind of information, as well as continuous labor support to women and their families to help ensure a positive birth experience.
