ABOUT OUR PROVIDER
My name is Andrea and I am an associate clinical social worker with over ten years in this wonderful field. I have advanced training in perinatal mental health with Postpartum Support International and a clinical foundation in holistic psychotherapy. Prior to embarking on the path of psychotherapy, I worked in community settings in New York, serving as program director for low-income older adults. About a year after I moved to California, I became pregnant for the first time and found myself deeply moved by the transformative journey of new parenthood. As a result of my own experience and my profession, I have become awokened to the invaluable need of support before, during, and after birthing a baby. Another fun fact about me: I connected with The Nest as a new mom a few years ago, so I have been a personal fan for a while! I find so much joy in being a partner to my clients and helping normalize the challenges they face. I look forward to meeting you and walking this path beside you!
About Andrea's Approach to Care
My master’s in social work training is rooted in the biopsycho-social-spiritual perspective, which means I tend to take a wide framework in exploring the interweaving influences of your current struggles (and your strengths). I provide a combination of psychodynamic, holistic, and solution-oriented approaches with the goal of maintaining a meaningful yet intentional process. The idea is to gain more clarity and self-compassion by looking at the stories you are carrying with you. I help you prioritize your well-being and empower your right to feel strong, loving boundaries as you map out your changing needs. I draw from researched modalities including perinatal mental health, mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), as well as holistic mediums such as guided visualization, grounding, narrative exploration, and journaling.
