Clinical Lactation Internship Program

The Clinical Lactation Internship Program at The Nest and Co is designed to prepare candidates to sit for the IBCLC Board Exam and practice as an IBCLC. The Nest and Co provides education, support, and an environment appropriate to meeting the clinical competencies of the IBCLC as presented by IBLCE.

During this internship, candidates will have the opportunity to shadow a mentor IBCLC in an outpatient clinical setting, work alongside a mentor IBCLC, and begin practicing independently under the supervision of the IBCLC. Completion of the 500 hours of clinical, hands-on experience will depend upon the client’s availability and progression through internship milestones.

Eligible applicants will have completed their initial 45 hours of lactation-specific education in basic breastfeeding management with commitment to complete the remaining 50 hours in advanced lactation management by the completion of the internship. Applicants will be in compliance with all IBLCE standards and comply with the WHO International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes.
