Jenica Willis

Owner | Founder | IBCLC

Hi there! My name is Jenica and I am the owner and founder of The Nest & Company. Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me. I am currently a junior midwifery student working towards obtaining my Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) certification and licensure at the National College of Midwifery. I am a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and childbirth educator. I wear many hats at The Nest. You may see me doing everything from teaching, speaking, to cleaning.

I come from a very blended family and have 7 sisters and 2 brothers. I grew up in Reno, NV and I moved to Bakersfield, CA during my junior year of high school. I graduated from Liberty High in 2007.

I married the best man I know in 2014, I have the amazing privilege of being a bonus mom to my two teenage children, and I get to cuddle with my two fur babies daily. So you can say life is pretty good. :)

I feel extremely fortunate that I get to serve my community in this capacity. I absolutely love what I do.

Vivian Bishop

Director of Operations & Communications | Childbirth Educator

Hi! My name is Vivian & I am a wife and mom to two sweet boys. I've been with The Nest since 2018. I do a ton of behind the scenes work on our digital marketing, website, and social media but I also occasionally work in the storefront so you'll see my face around! Since working here I've become so passionate about our mission and what we do here at The Nest, that I decided to pursue teaching Childbirth Education, and began the education process to become certified. To say I love my job(s) here at The Nest would be an understatement, I am thankful to love this place and the people I get to work with! In my free time I love to read books and blog!

Mary Killeen Pena

Infant Sleep Educator

My name is Mary Killeen Pena and I am the Infant Sleep Educator and Postpartum Support Group Facilitator at The Nest. I am a certified Postpartum Doula, and certified Lactation Educator and have been since 2018. I got my training and started my career in my hometown of Seattle, WA. I have over a decade of experience working as a nanny and early childhood educator.
I help create the world I want to live in by supporting new families and building community with parents.
When not teaching at The Nest, I run my own postpartum doula business, Dyad Parenting Support (www.dyadparenting.com). I am also a student at California State University, Bakersfield, getting my MA in English.
I am a mother of two and a step parent to two. My husband, who is from Bakersfield, is also a small business owner in town. When I’m not working or mothering, I am usually enjoying anything that involves Ireland, women's literature, or being outdoors. I look forward to meeting and supporting all the wonderful new families in Bakersfield!

Stacie Bingham

Childbirth Educator | Lactation Counselor

Stacie Bingham, LCCE, CD(DONA), CBS(LER), resides in California's fertile Central Valley. Her experience in the world of birth and babies began in 2002 when she accredited as a La Leche League Leader. After some time, she realized how birth affects breastfeeding, and she certified as a DONA-International Birth Doula. It didn't take long to see the impact childbirth education has on birth (which in turn impacts breastfeeding), and that began her journey to Lamaze-certified Childbirth Educator. Stacie enjoys all aspects of teaching and compares being a childbirth educator to the role of stand-up comedian -- engaging her audience with humor and evidence so learning happens in a relaxed atmosphere. Her writings have been published in the Journal of Perinatal Education, International Doula, Leaven, New Beginnings, and Clinical Lactation. Always expanding her family through rescue kittens, she resides with her husband and two sons, and has two more sons, plus a lovely daughter-in-law, who attend college out-of-state. Taylor Stevenson

Client Service Specialist

Hi everyone, my name is Taylor and I am so excited to start my journey here at the Nest! I am a wife to a wonderful husband and mother to our rambunctious daughter. After a not so pleasant experience with other postpartum and lactation services I learned about the Nest and all the amazing benefits of their knowledge and expertise. I’m so grateful that now I get to help in the same setting and connect with other moms and people of the community! In my spare time I love to read, anything from the classics to true crime to autobiographies. As a family we also love to travel and explore new areas in California!

Andrea Herskowitz

Associate clinical social worker

My name is Andrea and I am an associate clinical social worker with over ten years in this wonderful field. I have advanced training in perinatal mental health with Postpartum Support International and a clinical foundation in holistic psychotherapy. Prior to embarking on the path of psychotherapy, I worked in community settings in New York, serving as program director for low-income older adults. About a year after I moved to California, I became pregnant for the first time and found myself deeply moved by the transformative journey of new parenthood. As a result of my own experience and my profession, I have become awokened to the invaluable need of support before, during, and after birthing a baby. Another fun fact about me: I connected with The Nest as a new mom a few years ago, so I have been a personal fan for a while! I find so much joy in being a partner to my clients and helping normalize the challenges they face. I look forward to meeting you and walking this path beside you!
