Oral Assessments

The Nest offers oral assessments performed by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

This appointment focuses exclusively on identifying possible oral restrictions, such as tongue-tie or lip-tie, and providing appropriate referrals when indicated.

What This Appointment Is For

This visit is designed to:

• Assess tongue mobility and oral function

• Evaluate for potential tongue-tie (ankyloglossia)

• Evaluate lip-tie or other oral tissue restrictions

• Observe suck function and oral coordination

• Provide documentation of findings

• Offer referrals to appropriate providers (ENT, pediatric dentist, pediatrician, bodywork professionals, etc.) if needed

Our IBCLC provides a thorough, functional assessment using evidence-based techniques.

This appointment only evaluates (does not diagnose) oral restrictions.

It does not include:

• Full lactation consultation

• Breastfeeding positioning or latch support

• Milk supply evaluation

• Pumping plans

• Bottle feeding guidance

• Weight checks

• Comprehensive feeding plans
